For the second season, the ancient Croatian port city Dubrovnik started to be used as a major stand-in for outdoor scenes set in King’s Landing. The picturesque old city of Dubrovnik still has medieval walls right on the coast, which were well-suited to depict King’s Landing. Several other locations in Croatia nearby Dubrovnik were also used. Some scenes from the city Qarth are filmed on a small island called Lokrum, just 10 minutes off the coast of Dubrovnik.

She responds by threatening his life in a demonstration of her control over her guards. She warns him that power is power.

While crossing the city with Bronn (Jerome Flynn), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) is not surprised at hearing a protest speech against the incest-born king, but surprised and hurt to hear himself blamed for Joffrey's misdeeds. This scene was filmed in the St. Dominic Street in Old City of Dubrovnik.

The royal entourage including King Joffrey, Queen Cersei Lannister, Prince Tommen, Tyrion Lannister and Sansa Stark are at the docks seeing off Princess Myrcella Baratheon as she departs in a ship bound for Dorne.
